Policy on irrigation development in the Southwest of the Republic of Vietnam government (1955 - 1975)

Historical reality has proven that the existence and economic development of the Southwest region is closely linked to a system of irrigation, irrigation, and canals. Therefore, immediately after coming to power in 1955, the Government of the Republic of Vietnam issued many policies on investment and development of irrigation to exploit the rich potential of the Southwest region, meeting the goal military, economic and transportation. Based on the survey and analysis of documentary sources, especially documents archived at the National Archives Center II, the article presents in-depth the policy on developing irrigation in the Southwest region of the Vietnamese Government. South Republic, from which we draw some comments and assessments on the impact of those policies on the economy, military and transportation in the Southwest from 1955 to 1975.
