Can Loc is one of the “culturally outstanding” districts of Duc Quang prefecture, a land of “geomancy and talent”, a place of literature and poetry. Promoting the tradition of learning, Can Loc soon became one of the lands with the most prosperous education system in Nam Hoan - Ha Tinh for many centuries, from the early Le dynasty to the Le Trung Hung dynasty. This is the place that has produced many outstanding celebrities, many talented people who have contributed to the people and the country. Typical examples include: Third-ranked Ha Tong Muc, who was both a brave general, a diplomat, and a historian; First-ranked Nguyen Huy Oanh, who was both a talented general, a teacher, a talented writer, and a great culturalist; Grand Councilor Phan Kinh, who was both a diplomat and a resourceful general, with a brilliant talent and a lifetime of loyalty and patriotism... Therefore, within the framework of this article, based on the analysis of the sources, we will contribute to clarifying the education and examination system in Can Loc district from the early Le dynasty to the later Le dynasty.
