Currently, many community tourism models are formed under the sponsorship of non-governmental organizations or new rural programs, but most of these community tourism models do not have strong financial capacity and often collapse after the sponsorship ends. The reason for this unsustainable development is mainly due to poor market access and management capacity. In particular, tourism services have not met the needs of tourists. This reality occurs in the world and in Vietnam is similar before the intervention of CBT Travel. CBT Travel is a form of social enterprise that mobilizes inter-sectoral coordination from many sides such as government, businesses and communities. This article shares the experiences of CBT Travel along with the development of sustainable community tourism projects in Vietnam, which have made significant contributions to improving the lives of people in poor and disadvantaged areas in Vietnam over the past decade.
