English reading comprehension is an important skill that needs to be practiced for l students. Based on clarifying the role of background knowledge in English reading comprehension, the article mentions techniques to activate background knowledge before reading to improve English reading comprehension skills for students: using Preview guide; using K-W-H-L table; classifying and arranging pictures according to criteria; approaching images and vocabulary.
