Research on some morphological characteristics of milkfish Chanos chanos (Forsskål, 1775) in the Central coast region was carried out on 64 fish samples, with body length from 30,33 to 68.82 cm, and weight ranging from 420 to 3500 g/fish. Eighteen qualitative and quantitative traits, and 9 morphometric ratios of the fish were used for analysis. The average SL/BD (standard length/body depth) of milkfish in the Central region was 3,78, higher than the standard ratio (3,6). Comparing the results of research on morphological characteristics of milkfish in some countries, milkfish Chanos chanos (Forsskål, 1775) in Central region of Vietnam belongs to the group of "Common phenotype", with a typical elongated body structure. This is the phenotype of milkfish that is commonly farmed today and belongs to the same phenotype group of milk fish in the Southeast sea of Vietnam.
