Mathematical communication is one of the core competencies that need to be formed and developed for students in teaching
Mathematics in high schools. In this study,
we identified the manifestations of mathematical communication competence of 10th grade students in teaching the topic
Coordinate method in the plane based on a survey
taking the opinions of 68 high school mathematics teachers in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces. At the same time, the study was also conducted with 32 10th grade students on
performing some learning tasks in teaching the topic
Coordinate method in the plane with the aim of finding out the
manifestations of students' mathematical communication competence and
students' mistakes related to the manifestations of
mathematical communication competence. From there, a number of teaching
measures were proposed to contribute to developing students' mathematical communication competence in teaching this topic.
