SPECIES COMPOSITION AND CHARACTERISTICS OF DAMAGE OF THE FRUIT PIERCING MOTHS ON ORANGERS IN NGHE AN PROVINCE

This study provides data for the species composition and characteristics of damage of the fruitpiercing moths (FPM) that sucks the orange juice throughout orange producing areas at Nghe An
province. The research was carried out according to QCVN 01 - 119: 2012/BNNPTNT and
63/2021/TT-BNNPTNT. The species composition of the fruit-piercing moths collected on oranges in
Nghe An included 21 species. In Nghe An, the fruit-piercing moth has become active and the seriously
damaged the ripen orange fruit. The highest damage level of FPM was found in October and average
damage rate was from 11.1 to 20.6%. FPM was the most hamful insect in orange fruit at Tan Ky and
Thanh Chuong district, but the lowest in Quy Hop district. The average number of FPM flew into the
UV lamp trap was from 73.6 to 359.2 adults/trap/day. The average damage caused by FPM reached
7.4 tons/month/ha during the outbreak period
