PROPOSING STEM TEACHING COMPETENCY FRAMEWORK OF STUDENTS MAJORING IN INFORMATICS EDUCATION

One of the basic goals of STEM education is to develop STEM competencies for students. To achieve that, teachers must have STEM teaching competencies. Therefore, a STEM teaching competency framework for teachers of each subject that contributes to the development of STEM competencies for students is necessary, which is important for both students and teachers. However, there is currently no STEM teaching competency framework for Informatics teachers. This study proposes a STEM teaching competency framework for students majoring in Informatics Education, including 03 component competencies: General awareness of STEM education; Designing STEM education topics in teaching Informatics; Organizing teaching and testing, evaluating in teaching STEM education topics in Informatics subject; and 12 manifestations. The structure of this STEM teaching competency framework is consistent with the process of teaching STEM education topics in Vietnam. This will be the basis for educators to build tools to assess STEM teaching competencies of students majoring in Informatics Education.
