Cryptographic assets are a type of commodity that is held and traded quite a lot today. In Vietnam, there are statistics showing that about 25% of Vietnamese people own this type of goods. Besides, a lot of information also shows the level of risk associated with crypto-assets. However, accurate information about this type of asset, from the number of holders to its value, is not clearly understood by the majority of Vietnamese people. Not only that, the law related to this type of asset is currently left open as although Vietnam does not ban virtual assets, there is no official recognition of the legitimacy of transactions related to this type of goods. Around the world, different countries also have different attitudes and ways of regulating transactions related to crypto-assets. The article aims at clarifying the nature of cryptographic assets according to the laws of some countries in the world, especially Europe, and presenting a number of issues relating to this kind of commodity that Vietnamese government should carefully consider.
