Objective:To evaluate the relationship between myopia and some other factors with anxiety disorders in students in the first two years of college.Subjects and methods:a cross-sectional study was performed on 521 students in the first two years studying at Vinh University from August 2023 to December 2023. Determine myopia based on the most recent routine examination. Anxiety disorder was assessed using the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale. Results:521 subjects included57 freshman students and 464 sophomore students, in which 55.5% had myopia (34.4% mild, 20.3% moderate, and 0.8% severe myopia). There were 16.7% of students showing signs of an anxiety disorder (11.1% mild, 4.8% moderate, and 0.8% severe level). There was an association between anxiety disorder and myopia (OR=1.56, 95%CI: 0.97-2.51, p<0.05) and year in university (OR=2.16, 95%CI: 1.15-4.06, p<0.05). No relationship was found between gender and living status with the risk of anxiety disorder. Conclusion:Myopia and numbers of college-years were associated with a higher risk of anxiety disorder.
