Summary Social work (SW) is a highly applied scientific field, a specialized profession directed towards various target groups in different sectors of society. In Vietnam, social work has begun to establish foundations and assert its position in contributing to the resolution of issues and providing social services. Healthcare and medical care constitute a professional area within social work aimed at assisting patients and their families in addressing social and psychological issues, supporting functional recovery, and fostering community integration. Numerous programs and policies from the Party and the State have been issued and adjusted to meet the social development needs, particularly in the field of healthcare for people with disabilities (PWDs). SW with PWDs is a crucial specialization within social work, contributing to supporting and enhancing the capabilities of this target group. Within the scope of this article, the author focuses on elucidating social work activities in the healthcare sector dedicated to PWDs.
