STEM education has become a current teaching trend because it focuses on teaching STEM subjects in an integrated, interdisciplinary method linked to practice and developing students' qualities and competencies. One of the factors promoting STEM education is information technology (IT). In this article, we point out three directions for applying IT into STEM education: to provide a web-based query environment, to organize immersive and interactive teaching, and to support the creation of learning content. The main research method is to research and analyze scientific publications. Research results show that applying IT into STEM education increases learning effectiveness, students’ initiative, and the quality of subjects, while also contributing to forming students’ competencies.
