Sending workers abroad is one of the practical policies of the Vietnamese Government to solve the problem of employment for workers, contributing to the development of the country. However, the social reintegration upon their return received less attention. The article focuses on clarifying the participation of returning foreign workers in activities of social groups/organizations and the degree of engagement with the local community on the basis of research practice in Nghe An province. Firstly, returning foreign workers and local authorities still do not have a close connection, they participate mostly in informal social groups and are not active in common activities in local community. Second, their social network after returning home is still clustered, limited to personal relationships and mainly related to economic activities. In general, they are still not really active in the process of social integration after returning from working abroad. Therefore, it is necessary to have specific and positive orientations in order to create conditions to promote the process of social reintegration after repatriation and promote the strengths of this group of workers.
