The floods in October 2020 have caused great damage to aquaculture in the central provinces. The farming area, that suffered the largest damage is Quang Binh with 4,383 ha and 11,585 m3 cages. Next is Ha Tinh with 3,602 ha and 10,293 m3 of cages damaged. Quang Tri with 1,396 ha and 8,600 m3 cages and the lowest is Hue with 1,737 ha and 13,592 m3 cages. Damaged aquaculture production in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, and Thua Thien Hue is estimated at 364 billion, 194 billion, and 110 billion dongs, respectively. Besides, Quang Tri is 655 billion VND, including output and facilities. Technical solutions to cope have been implemented as soon as floods come, such as harvesting aquatic products, reinforcing cages, pond border... Accordingly, the statistical results showed the damage to facilities 17.1-60%, the most common type of damage was an erosion of pond and lagoon banks, damage to water supply and drainage sewers. Output loss is from 65.7-85%, aquatic products die due to rain and flood causing sweetening phenomenon. Some technical proposals to help farmers stabilize production soon, such as checking and repairing the ponds, lagoons, and cages. Sanitize ponds and water sources supply with chemicals and lime. The start time of the new crop is based on the results of environmental monitoring from specialized agencies.
