Innovation of teaching methods involves the shift from content-oriented teaching to learners’ competency teaching, that is, shifting the focus from what students can learn to what students can apply through learning. In this process, the lesson plan guidesteachers in determining lesson content, learning objectives, teaching methods, teaching activities and assessment of learning outcomes; helping teachers organize teaching activities effectively to achieve teaching goals. The study proposes a process of designing lesson plans in the direction of developing mathematical competence for students in teaching Mathematics. The proposed process is illustrated through the lesson plan on the topic “Quadratic equations with one unknown” (Math 9). The development of the lesson plan design process aims to help teachers better understand the requirements and guidelines of the 2018 General Education Program in Mathematics in order to design effective and appropriate lesson plans for different learners.
