Designing PISA-based exercises to develop students’ chemistry competence in the teaching of the specialized topic “Chemical Fertilizers” (Chemistry 11)

The 2018 General Education Program for Chemistry has been implemented for the second year. Applying the PISA assessment pproach is suitable for the requirements of innovating the forms and methods of assessing the achievements of general education, in line with the trend of international integration. The article focuses on analyzing the structure of chemistry competence and comparing it with the scientific competence of PISA, thereby proposing a process to design PISA-based exercises in teaching Chemistry including 5 steps. At the same time, the article introduces illustrative examples of PISA-based exercises to develop students' chemistry competence in teaching the specialized topic “Chemical Fertilizers - Chemistry 11”. The research results serve as a useful reference for teachers and chemistry pedagogical students in the upcoming implementation of the Grade 11 Chemistry program.
