Trung Hung Yen lychee is an early ripening variety, originating in Phu Cu district, Hung Yen province. The variety has many valuable characteristics that bring high economic efficiency, so it is prioritized to expand the cultivation area by local government and farmers. To determine the suitable time for Trung Hung Yen renovation graft on Lai Phu Cu lychee (the variety has large cultivation areas, however the economic efficiency is significant lower than that of Trung-Hung Yen), the study “Effects of renovation grafting time of Trung Hung Yen lychee on the rootstock of Lai Phu Cu lychee on survival rate, growth and development after grafting” has been implemented. The results showed that: Among the experimental treatments, the treatment grafting in Spring gave the highest parameter including: the survival rate reached 96.44%; the grafted branches grew strongly, the length and diameter were 60.22 and 1.31 cm, respectively after 90 days of grafting; 100% of grafted plants flowered at 10 months after grafting; fruit setting rate reached 0.23%; yield reached 12.49 kg/plant. Compared with treatment grafting in Spring season, the grafting in Summer and Autumn had lower survival rate and longer time from grafting to flowering.
