Nghe An is a long-standing area inhabited by ethnic minorities such as: Thai, Tho,
Hmong, Kho mu, O đu. It was in this land that the ethnic groups have together established
villages, build “muong”, created cultural features imbued with ethnic identity, contributing
to the formation of cultural characteristics of the western Nghe An. However, in the flow
of socio-economic life, the influence of the guidelines and policies of the State, in the past
few decades, many traditional cultural phenomena in the lives of ethnic groups are on a
declining trend and increasingly disappearing. The article presents the results of research
on the culture of ethnic minorities in Western Nghe An in the current context, thereby
proposing a number of solutions to contribute to preserving and promoting the cultural
identity of ethnic minorities in the western region of Nghe An.
