To contribute to the identification and classification of Puxailaileng ginseng samples, this reseach was focused on identifying specific morphological characteristics and analyzing barcoded DNA belonging to three regions ITS, rbcL and psbA-trnH of this species. Based on the results of morphological characteristics and analysis of genetic distances as well as phylogenetic trees, it has contributed to confirm that Puxailaileng ginseng is a variety of Vietnamese ginseng (Panax vietnamensis Ha & Grushv.) and close ralationship with Lai Chau ginseng (Panax vietnamensis Ha & Grushv. var. fussidiscus K. Komatsu, S. Zhu & S. Q. Cai).
