Due to the prescribed nature and characteristics of the traditional society, plus other subjective and objective reasons, although nearly 30 years after Doi Moi, the livelihood of Thai people in western Nghe An In general, the Thai area of Con Cuong district in particular is still mainly agricultural production activities. In June 2011, for the first time, a new form of livelihood appeared, that is the model of community tourism, built in 4 villages in 4 communes: Bong Khe, Yen Khe, Luc Da and Mon Son. 4 groups (each group of 6 members) run by Thai people, operating in the form of self-governance and community tourism conventions, under the direction of the general management apparatus. This model has been operating for more than 10 years and has brought some positive results, but it also reveals certain limitations in socio-economic development. After more than 10 years of existence, the model of CBT in these 4 villages has brought many positive aspects: increased income for some farmers; stimulate handicrafts, produce goods and tourism services; contribute to local economic growth… However, besides the advantages, CBT activities also reveal certain limitations.
