Vietnam’s 2013 Law on Land and its implementation guiding documents have many new points about land acquisition. These new points have overcome shortcomings of the 2003 Law on Land and have better ensured the rights of people whose land is to be acquired. However, the 2013 Law on Land still reveals some shortcomings, especially its regulations on acquiring land due to violations of the law. This paper examines some cases in which the state acquires land due to violations of regulations on land and proposes some solutions to perfect regulations on land in the near future.
