STEM is an integration between the fields of science, technology, engineering and
math. Currently, STEM education is a teaching model developed in many countries in order to
develop student competencies in line with practical needs. Collaborative problem solving is one of
the important competencies of students in the learning process. This research focuses on analyzing
the structure of collaborative problem – solving capacity and devising this capacity training process
through the topic of STEM education. From that, teacher applys to the specific example in STEM
topic “Manufacturing water filtration systems” for junior high school students in Vietnam.
