Assessment of potential mangrove land suitability for mangrove tree species is a multi-objective analysis and decision-making problem in coastal mangrove development planning. In this study, the application of GIS technology to assess ecological adaptation for Avicennia alba is based on 16 indicators of 4 criteria: (i) Type of mangrove land, (ii) Substrate and soil texture, (ii) Tidal depth, and (iv) current status of mangroves and mangroves. There are 127 types of land units evaluated for A. alba, of which 70 types of land units are highly adaptive (221.8 ha, accounting for 31.0%), 27 types of land units at the medium adaptability (116.4 ha, 16.3%), 30 types of land units unadapted (377.6 ha, 52.7%), and no types of land units that are less adapted to the growth and development of A. alba. The result is a scientific basis for the planning of mangrove forest development in the coastal area of Nghe An province.
