The article is the result of the study on the status of mangroves forests and forests in the coastal areas of Nghe An province, with the aim of assessing the status and situation of area changes. The total area of mangroves and forests on sand of coastal in Nghe An province declined rapidly during the 2004-2017 period. Around 13 years. Nghe An declined 875 ha with an average of 67.3 ha per year. These types of forests are fragmented therefore it is difficult to manage and protect. In addition, due to the pressure of socio-economic development projects, many areas of mangrove forests are at risk of degradation. Research result can be considered a scientific basis for the management, conservation and restoration of coastal forests to help adapt to climate change for coastal communities in Nghe An province.
