Human is the most important factor which decides the quality of all activities. Correctional officers are the main force to enforce imprisonment and they plays an important role in the enforcement of legal provisions on ensuring human rights during the imprisonment enforcement. Correctional officers are responsible for preventing prisoners human rights violations. Improving the capacity, expertise, professionalism and sense of responsibility of the corectional officers is one of the important solutions to ensure human rights of prisoners during the imprisonment enforcement. This paper presents legal provisions and an overview about the orgranization of correctional officers. Based on this paper’s findings, some recommendations are proposed to improve the quality, capacity and professionalism of correctional officersin Vietnam.
