Being aware of the role of vocabulary in students’ reading ability , the present research proposed some activities to pre- teach vocabulary to improve reading comprehension skills for English majored students, including: guessing the meaning of words in context and filling the gaps, definitions and gaps filling, matching verbs and nouns, students friendly explanations . The author also suggested the procedure to pre-teach vocabulary for a reading text.
