ABILITY TO EMIT STIMULATED TERAHERTZ RADIATION
BETWEEN LANDAU LEVELS IN GaAs/Al GaAs QUANTUM WELL

In this paper we show that a population inversion can be achieved in the system of Landau levels in quantum well structures by a considerable difference between intersubband and intrasubband electron-electron scattering rate. This mechanism allows the generation of emission terahertz stimulated radiation. The frequency of the radiation may continuously be tuned in a wide range of terahertz frequencies by the variation of the magnetic field strength.
