SOME TYPES OF EXERCISES TO ASSESS NATURAL SCIENCE COMPETENCY FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS BASED ON THE PISA APPROACH

The article focuses on analyzing the natural science competencies for secondary school-age students with the specific competencies, criteria and expression level. Thereby, the authors propose a number of exercises based on the PISA approach to evaluate each criterion of component competency according to the content of the natural science curriculum, including: (1) Exercises for assessing cognitive competence of natural science; (2) Exercises to evaluate the competence of studying the natural world; (3) Exercises assessing the competence of applying the learned knowledge and skills. Each type of the exercises includes examples of illustration and analysis, as well as assessment of the students’ natural science competency when solving these types of exercises.
