Due to an increasing demand of high quality rice in Vietnam and with the aim to support farmers in
cultivating rice in Do Luong, Nghe An, the TH Group and Vinh University collaborated with the local
farmers and the local authorities to develop high yield and high-quality rice. The TH Group supported in
both finance and product-sale, as well as supervising and evaluating the effectiveness of the project. Vinh
University directly investigated, and selected location to deploy the project, as well as training and
supervising cultivation methodology to the farmers. The local authorities cooperated in overseeing and
tracking the methodology and milestones of the project that was carried out by the farmers, and also
delivered and sold the final products following standard procedures. The cultivation using the advanced
Vietgap model was implemented during the spring season in 2017 in three villages Yen Son, Thinh Son and
Hoa Son, with a total area of cultivation of 10ha. Through the cooperation, the farmers equipped with the
new methodology, skill-set, and know-how to effectively manage their paddy field with clean water and
nutrient soil. The final products were consumed 100% with the price above 1.4 to 1.5 times higher than the
standard one, which significantly increased the incomes of local farmers.
