REPORTING SPEECH – AN IMPORTANT INDICATOR FOR IDENTIFICATION OF COMMENTARY THROUGH CHARACTER’S SPEECH IN MA VAN KHANG’S NOVELS

Identification of reporting speech for commentary through character’s speech in Ma Van Khang’s novel are based on 4 subgroups: verbs, phrasal verbs for speaking in combination with describing context for speaker’s appearance; verb groups for expressive speech; word groups indicating body movement of commenter; word groups describing psychological state, and attitude of commenter. Through description and analysis of subgroups in reporting speech, the article indicates that identifying language action in general and commentary in particular is based on not only IFIDs (Illocutionary Force Indicating Devices) but also reporting speech which is an important indicating devices for commentary identification. To that end, it highlights the talent of Ma Van Khang – a writer who has much sophisticated discoveries in a relation of characters’ emotion, act and language
