The question of the energy supply of the North-West of Russia keeps urgency due to the severe climate conditions and the allocation of the large-scale industrial enterprises. One of the possible ways of improving the energy system of the region is the development of bioenergy by using the local renewable source of energy. The North-West region is considered to be the main base of logging and wood industries in Russia, that determines the availability of wood residues. The using of the forest residues, the logging residues and the by-products of wood industry as a raw material for production wooden fuel helps to solve two sharp problems at once – the utilization of residues and the effective power supply.
