This article describes the current situation of exploiting Thai ethnic group’s cultural heritage namely their lifestyle, their spiritual lives, their cuisine culture and their traditional handicrafts for community-based tourism development in Con Cuong district, Nghe An. Accordingly, the author suggests solutions to promoting the group’s cultural heritage for community-based tourism development in the region, including 1) Developing human resources for fostering tourism and increasing the ethnics’ income; 2) Resolving reasonably the relationship between conservation and development; 3) Encouraging the tourism industry to strengthen and manage tourism activities toward preserving and promoting the heritage; 4) Sharing economic benefits with the community through revenues from the tourism activities and creating jobs for the locals; 5) Contributing to education and healthcare, conserving cultural value, assuring the sustainable community-based tourism development as well as improving environmental sanitation and limiting impact of humans’ activities on the region’s ecosystem.
